The Problem With Modern “Self-Love”

Self-love and self-compassion are crucial practices that help us to become the best version of ourselves possible, generating positive ripple effects in the world around us. But if we aren’t careful, the modern notion of self-love can be used as a form of self-judgment: an unrealistically high yardstick that we use to measure our worth, success, and “spiritualness.”

  1. Thank you for this video! Just coming to that! 🙂 Struggled with perfectionism and self-rejection for so long. Yes, love as only unconditional, all-accepting. 🙂 It just occured me yesterday that manic, repetitive thoughts that one would SO LIKE to get rid of are in fact an alarm bell – there’s a lot of fear underneath, fear that has waited for years (and decades) to be addressed. So, no more enemies inside me, no internal war, only friends trying to say sth, to point out sth, to receive help… and love. 🙂 Thanks again, great work you two are doing! <3

    • I love how you mention the “internal war,” Ariana – this term is so powerful and describes exactly what happens when we reject whatever is inside us. Thank you for sharing!
